Chad's thoughts

Just my thoughts on the world as I see it.

You know, I have lived in Wetumka Housing Authority for going on 17 years now, I think. I say I think because I stopped counting after 15 years. In fact, I’m still in the same unit in the Wetumka Housing Authority right now. That might change, though, because the executive director (ED) is mad that I reported him to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). After all, it took him three months to address a kitchen leak that was under the kitchen sink cabinet. Now he is threatening eviction so that he will not have to deal with my mother or me anymore. It is so bad that my mother is worried that he might actually do it. I say let him, since he has been breaking Oklahoma law regarding tenants' rights.

He told both my mother and me that he would give us five weeks, and he would do another inspection. Personally, I think he saw some of the things I have been posting since the ED is friends with me on Facebook. One of the things I posted was the Oklahoma law regarding entry of a tenant's home. That included the right the tenant has to get a notice 24 hours before the landlord can even show up at the unit. Well, while I was in the shower, the Wetumka Housing Authority finally gave out a notice about an inspection for tomorrow. This would suggest that the ED has seen my posts, but to wait until the day before the inspection to give a notice is unacceptable in my humble opinion. So, will we be allowed to stay, or will we be evicted because an ED was threatened to be fired by HUD? Only time will tell.

I guess in the end, all the reports to HUD disappeared, as this would have happened sooner. Then again, HUD supports this kind of Behavior from all the public housing authorities (PHA) that get funding from HUD. That means that HUD will always encourage breaking the law or getting rid of tenants they don’t want anymore by any means necessary. So I wonder why they would wait until now to try to force an eviction? Is HUD really that dense and has no clue what goes on in the PHA’s it funds, or is it that they just simply don’t care? After all, HUD doesn’t really seem to want to do any kind of investigation that deals with tenants' complaints. It seems that all HUD wants to do is nothing at all unless people start showing others how they work on some level. Better yet, all HUD does is forward all complaints to the PHA when the tenant is asking HUD for help with the issue.

What HUD does not understand is that people will most likely not want to be in any PHA, since all HUD will do is side with the PHA without even looking into the issues tenants are having with said PHA. HUD also fails to understand that doing nothing for the tenants undermines the view that all tenants have when it comes to HUD and their mission to help people get a home. Maybe that’s why HUD does nothing, but I don’t think so. It has to be something else. Why else would HUD encourage PHAs to break laws or get rid of tenants? After all, it seems that HUD has no problems with tenants of PHAs littering the PHAs with non-functioning vehicles. It also seems that HUD has no problem with PHAs creating lawn damage to the tenants' lawn and then charging the tenants to address such damage. I wonder what else HUD has no problem ignoring when it comes to tenants that are having issues with the PHA that they are living in? Only time will tell, I guess. In the end, it is what it is, and there is no point in worrying about it.

Well, today is the first of the new year. Some say when a new year starts, it's okay to let go of the old. There is only one problem with that, though. When you let go of the old, the very thing that is keeping you in the now, go with it. Then again, there are others who say that’s not all that bad because you can recreate your newness in the now in some way. It just depends on how one sees themselves to know for sure what is best for themselves. To me, however, this is just like any other day. It is not all that special. I have more important things to think about, like being a caregiver to my mother or trying to help my brother in some way.

Hell, even right now, I have an Operation called Operation Homestead. No one knows about it, or what it is for, so I will not talk about it here. What I will say is that it’s one of three Operations that I hope will make this family more of a family, but I’m not sure. The word family has not felt like a word I can say with confidence for years now. Well, not since the old man died anyway. Being the oldest of the kids while attempting to be the old man of the family only adds to everything else I'm doing. I guess only time will tell if I can pull it off or not.

Right now, I do worry about my brother, but I don’t tell him that. There are times I wonder if he has a place to stay. There are times I wonder if he lost his job because of me or our mother. There are times I wonder if he’s holding things back because he doesn’t want me or our mother to worry about him. I do wish he had better timing when he calls, but he hasn’t called since the 26th of last month. I don’t know when it would be a good time to call him, either, so I have to watch his Facebook page and see when he makes a post. He keeps telling me that I’m a good brother, but there are times I don’t feel like I’m a good brother.

I mean, after all, I have altogether three brothers (two of whom are half-brothers) and one half-sister. I worry about them all. My half-sister wants nothing to do with me due to what my stepmother and her sister said, did, or both. My half-brothers, I’m told, want nothing to do with me due to what my stepmother has told them. I have also been told that half-brothers do want something to do with me, or at the very least, my brother. It’s hard to tell who to believe anymore when it comes to my half-sister or half-brothers. I used to be able to see my half-brothers through my stepmother's Facebook page, but she has since deleted it for one reason or another. My guess is my stepmother finally realized what she was posting could be used against her, but it was too late, as some of the posts she made had been screenshot. Speaking of which, I need to see if my mother wants to go to that court or not, and if so, I need to set up a calendar and an automation in Home Assistant.

In the end, it is what it is, and there is nothing I can do about it.

Well, I finally got my blog up and running, and figured, why not make my first post now? I have not told anyone that I have it up and running then again it not like anyone will care if it is or not. The one person that might care would most likely be my brother, but he has his own problems to face right now, so there is no need to worry him any more than he already is. In fact, I have most of what I need right now up and running, and will continue to work on what I need or want at a later time down the road. Hell, I was even thinking of letting someone access my Home Assistant, but I'm not sure that is wise right now, considering what she is doing right now.

Hell, I don’t think she even knows the damage she is doing to herself right now. She thinks it’s okay to say one thing and do another. In fact, how she is acting now reminds me of what my stepmother is doing, but at a much more questionable level. As a result of her actions, my mother and I have to wake up at 5 AM so my mother can take her meds by 6 AM to get to someone's house by 8 AM just because that someone wants to be an ass. It is what it is, but in the end, it will only hurt that someone because she thinks driving my brother apart from me and my mother is going to happen when that is not even an option. I guess only time will tell if she will see what her actions have done so far, and maybe think before she keeps going on the course she's on.
